Scoring presets

Bracket scoring awards points for each correct pick. Later rounds are typically worth more points to reflect the difficulty of predicting deep into a tournament.

Round Points per correct pick
Round of 16 / First round 1
Quarterfinals 2
Semifinals 4
Final 8
Champion 16

This doubling structure means a correct champion pick is worth as much as tipping every quarterfinal correctly.

Fanzava includes presets tuned for common tournaments:

Preset Structure
Standard doubling 1 → 2 → 4 → 8 → 16 (default)
Flat 1 point per correct pick regardless of round
March Madness 1 → 2 → 4 → 8 → 16 → 32 (6 rounds)
Custom Set your own values per round
  1. Go to Admin → Bracket competition → Settings → Scoring
  2. Choose a preset or select Custom
  3. Enter point values for each round
  4. Save

Changes take effect for the next round that scores. Already-scored rounds are not recalculated.

You can optionally award bonus points when a lower-seeded team wins. Configure in Settings → Scoring → Upset bonus:

  • Set a point value (e.g. 1 extra point per seed difference)
  • Choose which rounds the bonus applies to
